Born in Turin in 1939, after his graduation in nuclear engineering he has been operating for about twenty years in the nuclear field, designing and building prototype reactors and power stations.
During the 1980s his activities spread to the management of electomechanical companies, and he was for over ten years the president and managing director of Ansaldo Group. Meanwhile, being also the president of Cesen (Centro studi energia di Finmeccanica) and Iefe (Istituto dell’economia delle fonti di energia dell’Università Bocconi), he focuses his interest on economic and strategic matters of national and worldwide energy supplying.
He is also a scholar in philosophy and theology and a teacher in Ethics and Economics, and the author of several essays and literary works. In 1997 he was given the prize “Umanesimo e Management” (Humanities and management).
In 2000 he has been appointed vice-president of the Gerolamo Gaslini foundation, and in 2003 he created the Foundation Istituto mediterraneo per l’infanzia – Medchild institute, of which he is currenlty the president.
