La Storia nel Futuro® in Genoa

Fourth Series of Conferences on Business Culture
organized by the Faculty of Engineering (University of Genoa)
Now, more than in the past, it has become important to remember one’s own history as a stimulus that leads to innovation, an essential ability that allows a city to maintain prestige, visibility, and attraction in the global market. Italy’s gradual transformation over the last 20 years (that continues even today) from an economy based on state industry to one that is more oriented towards knowledge and private ownership, has revitalized the creativity that has always been a feature of the Genoese character.
Over the last ten years, this new creativity has developed significantly. The participants in this process are numerous, frequently “prophets” more in Italy and in Europe than in Genoa. For this reason, La storia nel Futuro® in Genoa was launched, through three series of 30 conferences promoted by the Faculty of Engineering, the Chamber of Commerce and the Ansaldo Foundation, from March 2003 to March 2006.
The fourth series, from October 2006 to April 2007, has scheduled ten conferences open to the public to give accounts of their professional and entrepreneurial experience, often unique, with the aim of sharing their knowledge with a wider public.
For a few selected participants, the series will finish in September 2007 with a study tour in the companies of the Silicon Valley U.S.A guided by the Italian business association SVIEC, Silicon Valley Italian Executive Council which is part of NIAF (National Italian American Foundation).
